Midwest Eye-Banks is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight. Through our locations in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and
New Jersey, we recover, evaluate and distribute human eye tissue for transplantation.
As part of our mission, we support preliminary research into the causes and cures of blinding eye conditions. Through public and professional education programs, we encourage people to learn about eye, organ and tissue donation. We also provide humanitarian aid to those unable to afford transplantation procedures, both at home and abroad, by waiving our tissue processing fees when a charitable need exists.
Midwest Eye‐Banks forms new partnership with Cleveland Eye Bank
Midwest Eye‐Banks is pleased to join with the Cleveland Eye Bank in a new affiliation, effective May 1, 2012.
The Cleveland Eye Bank will operate as a subsidiary of Midwest Eye‐Banks, retaining its
organizational identity, staff, Board of Directors and mission to restore sight in northeast Ohio. Midwest Eye‐Banks brings common procedures and services, and will be a resource for community‐based cornea donation and transplantation.
"Cornea donation is a gift we give to each other," says Kevin Ross, Midwest Eye‐Banks President and CEO. "With the Cleveland Eye Bank, we will continue our long history of service, with each organization maintaining the public trust for more than 50 years. Together, we're ready to meet future challenges, providing safe and effective access to the Gift of Sight."
The Cleveland Eye Bank is a not‐for‐profit organization and an accredited member of the Eye Bank Association of America, partnering with Lifebanc to encourage organ, tissue and eye donation in northeast Ohio, and with Donate Life Ohio statewide. |
